Ad-aware, is the first anti-spyware software that i ran across. about 5 years ago. it has been removing files for me since. So far it gets the most known ones and has an update feature. current status on this platform:Scans-31:removed-486:quarintiend-500: score-6: great features, not complete protecttion, does not detect all threats on your computer, but gets most of the problematic ones.
The #2 program that i rely on for spyware removal and prevention. Kind of like a firewall for the registry (teatimer) and a powerful scanning engine. Detects most of the known malwares and can detect new ones. Still doesn't get em all. Score: 8 offers great features, can be updated in the program. detects a wide range of infections and problems. Still misses a few.
For free software this is the best i know of, multiple real-time scanners, auto-update everything. uses much less resources and does a better job then mainsteam software. Score of 8, only con is it gives you a 60 day lis, (free to renew by e-mail)
